December 2024 | Update 10: Partnership Answer to Prayer

Launching a business is challenging. Especially if you aren’t rolling in the dough or have some sort of angel investor.

And I would argue that launching a not-for-profit is even more challenging given that many folks can’t wrap their heads around something that … well, that doesn’t make a profit.

Then, on top of all of that, launching a not-for-profit with a vision to do something that hasn’t been done before seems to be almost impossible. At least at times that’s how it’s felt to me.

We anticipated that it would be challenging; however, as they say, knowing it and living it are two very different things. Fortunately, we had a very clear call from God to step out in faith to launch TSC that not only informed our vision, but it also fueled our determination and girded our perseverance.

Given the inherent challenges, from the get-go we prayed for and pursued connecting with like-minded, well-known companies and organizations that could provide TSC with some sort of credibility. Giving TSC their seal of approval, so to speak, would potentially get folks to at least pause long enough to consider supporting us in some way - with their resources, their time, their insight, their connections, etc.

And this was confirmed by many folks at every step of the way along our TSC journey. So, we continued to pray and we continued to put one foot in front of the other … making calls, sending emails, networking, praying, trusting, persevering.

Partnering with Chick-fil-A & WinShape Homes

With all of that, we’re excited (and relieved!) to share that our prayers have been answered, big time! TSC is now working with both Chick-fil-A and WinShape Homes. Come on now … talk about helping TSC establish credibility (and a whole lot more!) … go God!

Chick-fil-A

Through Chick-fil-A’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, TSC received a gracious gift that has and will continue to seed our Backyard Mini-Makover efforts for foster families! This is HUGE and it really gave us not only the means to move these projects forward, but it also validated & energized our conversations with the foster care ministries of local churches about what we could do for their foster families.

If you want to learn more about our Foster Family Backyard Mini-Makeovers, check out Update 3 of this newsletter. And stay tuned for the next TSC Newsletter where we will highlight a makeover we did for an awesome foster family in October. We have another couple makeovers in the works and plan to do 6 or so of them in 2025.

So thanks so much Chick-fil-A … Eat More Chicken!!!

WinShape Homes

Although not as well known as Chick-fil-A to the average person, if you’re in the foster care community, particularly in Atlanta, I’d imagine you’re well aware of WinShape Homes.

WinShape Homes is one of WinShape Foundation’s five ministries, the other four being: Camps, Marriage, Teams, and their College Program.

Specifically, WinShape Homes serves foster children in both the group home and foster home settings. Leveraging its history, broad network of care, community reach, and resources, WinShape Homes partners with churches and families to serve the precious children in their care.

Knowing all this, in October I was incredibly excited to co-host a Fall Family Fun Day with Grayson & Matthew Cathy in their backyard for the WinShape foster families and the WinShape Homes staff families. It was a great day and I’ll share more about it in an upcoming TSC Newsletter. But I will say, TSC’s bunny, Cheez-It, and 3 of our chickens were a big hit! They all really seemed to understand that they were doing something special for these children and their families … and they were!

We’re scheduled to meet with the WinShape Homes team sometime the first of 2025 to brainstorm on how ways we could partner to uniquely serve the WS foster families and the children they care for. So, stay tuned and please pray for our meeting

Encouraged & Excited

Again, we don’t know where TSC’s partnerships with Chick-fil-A and WinShape Homes will lead. We are hopeful and we certainly have some ideas. But today, right now, we are so thankful and so encouraged by what we’ve been able to do and who we’ve been able to uniquely serve in the foster care community because of Chick-fil-A and WinShape Homes. What a blessing and what a huge answer to prayer. Stay tuned!
