TSC’s Top 10 Updates for 2024
Update 1 | The Contract on Allgood Road Property Fell Though: Initially disappointing, yes; but we’re so thankful for all that we learned through the process as we took this step of faith … and for God’s protection & provision along the way.
Update 2 | The Mini-TSC Site in Our Backyard: For the past year or so we’ve hosted foster families in our backyard and it’s been great. We’ve been blessed and I believe we’ve been a blessing to those who have visited. And the bonus … we’ve learned even more than anticipated!
Update 3 | TSC-at-Home - Bringing TSC into Foster Families’ Backyards: As referenced in Update 1, we’ve pivoted a bit these past 9 months. Although we’re still dreaming of and planning for a TSC Hub site, we’re now focusing our efforts in less capital-intensive ways by working directly with foster families.
Update 4 | TSC Model Affirmed by Oldest Foster Care Org. in US: TSC’s vision of connecting foster children more consistently & intentionally to the healing power of nature aligns with some innovative research supported by Graham Windham - the oldest foster care organization in the US (est. 1806) and founded by Eliza Hamilton. Yes, that Eliza!!!
Update 5 | Connection with LaTonya Gates, PAWkids - Blessing, Inspiration & Opportunity: One of my personal highlights of 2024 was meeting LaTonya Gates, Founder & Executive Director of PAWkids, in the Grove Park community of Atlanta, GA. As you’ll read, she’s truly a force to be reckoned with and a blessing to so many! We’re excited to share how we plan on partnering with LaTonya to help her bless her community even more!
Update 6 | We Got GOATS … and Here’s Why!:
That’s right, we have goats - 3 of them, Nigerian Dwarfs … Waylon, Willie, and Hank! It’s certainly been an adventure, to say the least. Read on to learn why connecting with animals is so healing to foster children. And by the way, come visit our goats yourself!
Update 7 | Orchard’s 6-Month Partner Program: I was honored to be a member of Orchard’s 2024 Partner Program cohort. I am so thankful for this unique opportunity, where I learned so much and made some great connections.
Update 8 | Pickleball with a Purpose Charity Event: Thanks to the gracious support of our close friends, Katie & Robb Herzfeld (owners of the Atlanta Pickleball Center), we partnered with Promise 686 to put on TSC’s very first charity event to benefit Promise 686 and TSC.
Update 9 | Youth Villages - An Unexpected Opportunity for TSC: Through a connection with our local Rotary Club, we were introduced to the folks at the Inner Harbor campus of Youth Villages. Fast forward a month or so and I was onsite helping them re-envision their garden and outdoor spaces. I look forward to seeing where this relationship leads!
Update 10 | Partnering with Chick-Fil-A & WinShape Homes - Answered Prayer:
As we’ve said & prayed for since launching TSC, being able to partner with a like-minded, respected & known company would be huge for us … as an unknown NFP start-up. Well, our prayers were answered big time! As you’ll read, we’ve been blessed to work with both Chic-fil-A & WinShape Homes this year!
