How We Do What We Do

The TSC Pathways

Our work is guided by the Six TSC Pathways — a trauma-informed, experience-based framework shaped by nature, connection, and healing.

Movement-based experiences that support emotional regulation and relational healing.

Intentional quiet & stillness that make room for regulation, reflection, and internal steadiness.

Awe-filled encounters with nature’s beauty that support reflection, and grounding.

Hands-on
experiences that build responsibility, nurture growth, and cultivate a sense of hope.

Animal-based interactions that foster natural connection, gentleness, and relational trust.

Shared experiences that strengthen community connection and build relational confidence.

These Pathways help us design outdoor spaces, lead meaningful experiences, and create environments where families are safe, seen, and supported.

Growing a Community of Care

Through four key stages, TSC brings together place, people, resources, and practical care — creating meaningful ways for communities to support foster families through trauma-informed outdoor spaces and shared experiences unique to their community.

Every community already has what foster families need to thrive. TSC begins by identifying these people, spaces, and resources — and seeing what’s possible.

  • Healing power of nature

  • People’s gifts & passions to love & serve foster families

  • Local partners with similar missions

  • Community’s collective resources & expertise

  • Underutilized, otherwise undevelopable spaces

Strong, lasting impact grows from shared purpose and trusted partnerships. TSC helps build the rooted foundation a community needs to support foster families well.

  • Shared purpose and goals

  • Collective resources and effort

  • Trusted community partners

  • An activated, engaged community

  • A “hub-and-spoke” model of support

  • A base for greater impact, sustainability, and scale

From that foundation grows a solution shaped by the realities of foster care — strengthened by community insight, local resources, and shared commitment.

  • Nature-based, trauma-informed spaces & experiences

  • Intentional experiences

  • Community-led and community-enabled

  • Accessible for children of varied abilities

  • Meaningful opportunities for others to serve foster families

The impact ripples across the foster care ecosystem — strengthening children and caregivers, and transforming the community that serves them in sustaining ways.

  • Children in foster care

  • Foster parents & caregivers

  • Biological families

  • Foster care community

  • Broader community

  • Local nonprofits & partners

  • Local & national businesses

  • Civic & governmental orgs

Together, these stages inspire people, connect partners, leverage community resources, and build shared rhythms of support that help foster families feel at home and strengthen how the community shows up to serve.

How can you help?

There’s a place for everyone in foster care. Learn the needs. Support the families and birth parents navigating hard stories. Encourage the organizations doing the work. And consider how your gifts, time, or presence might make a difference.
