More spaces. More connection. More people finding ways to create space for foster care.
TSC | SUMMER 2026 UPDATE
Hey friends,
It’s been a pretty incredible year so far at Tire Swing Collective!
We’ve continued doing what we set out to do from the beginning: creating outdoor spaces & experiences where foster families can heal, connect, and belong through the power of nature & community.
But our new tagline, Creating Space for Foster Care, is about more than physical spaces.
Children & families experiencing foster care need space in our hearts, our minds, our days, and our communities. Space to slow down and breathe. Space to play and connect. Space to be known, supported, and to belong.
And that’s why I’m so excited about what we’re seeing this year. More backyards, yes. But also more spaces, more relationships, and more people finding their own ways to love & serve the foster care community.
There’s a lot happening. Here’s a closer look at what we’ve been up to.
MORE SPACES. MORE CONNECTION. MORE POSSIBILITIES.
So far this year, we’ve completed 3 Backyard Makeovers, continued hosting monthly Open Play Days, and found other ways to give foster families opportunities to spend time outside, slow down, play, connect with one another & nature, and simply be together.
And here’s what’s really cool.
Two of the families whose backyards we transformed this year (to love on & serve them!) have decided to open their spaces to other foster families, becoming our first Mini-TSC Sites outside of our own backyard.
And both have already hosted their first Open Play Days!
I love that! What started as creating a special outdoor space for one family is becoming a place of connection & belonging for many families. And we really can’t wait to see all the different ways these spaces will be used to serve the foster care community.
AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED.
There’s a lot more ahead.
We have 3 more Backyard Makeovers on deck for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, and 2 of those are planned to become Mini-TSC Sites.
And with each new space come more opportunities for foster families to connect with one another and experience the healing power of nature & community.
We’re pretty excited about where all of this is headed!
MORE PEOPLE & PARTNERS ARE JOINING IN.
This might be one of my favorite things happening at TSC. More people are figuring out how to use what they have and what they do well to love & serve foster families.
And we’re seeing that happen in all kinds of ways.
Molly Sellers, through Molly Makes Photo, offered free family photo sessions for foster families in our backyard. Families left with beautiful photos and, while they were here, got to hang out, play, and enjoy the outdoor spaces together.
Kara Hsu, through Little Sprouts Co., has shared her love of gardening & family by curating our vegetable garden and one at a new Mini-TSC Site. She also led a hands-on gardening workshop for kids at an Open Play Day.
We’re also developing deeper relationships with organizations serving the foster care community, including Atlanta Angels and WinShape Homes, learning from each other and exploring ways our work might come together to serve foster families even better.
Different gifts. Different resources. Different ways of serving.
I just love seeing people & organizations use what they already have and what they do best to love the foster care community.
AND SOME REALLY EXCITING NEWS!
For the first time, TSC has a full-time team member!
We’re so excited to have Sadie HuYoung join the TSC team.
Sadie is from Brentwood, TN, just outside Nashville, and recently graduated from Samford University with a degree in Human Development & Family Science.
At TSC, Sadie will focus on Programs & Communications, spending much of her time getting to know & serving our families, helping bring our programs & events to life, and sharing the stories of what’s happening at TSC with the world!
Some of you got to meet Sadie at our last two Open Play Days. For everyone else, you’ll get to know her in the months ahead as she jumps into all things TSC.
This is a really big step for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board!
IT TAKES A COMMUNITY.
Of course, none of the above just happens.
Behind every Backyard Makeover, Open Play Day, new relationship, new team member, and next step is a growing community of people making it possible.
Some give. Some volunteer. Some donate plants, materials, food, photography, or other services. Some make introductions. Some pray for us and encourage us along the way.
All of it matters. And we’re incredibly grateful. Our families are grateful.
